The food here really is excellent. We sat down just before noon when the restaurant opens and had a nice table in the shade. The patio IMMEDIATELY filled up at noon with people waiting. Seemed to be primarily American’s, probably drawn in by the burgers on the menu. *note it is CASH ONLY We ordered hibiscus margaritas, shrimp lettuce bits, SOP Burger (standard operating procedure) and a pike rice bowl. Everything was delicious!! Our lunch ended up being about 60 USD but portions were nice and we left full and happy. The owner apparently puts some veggies out for the iguanas and it’s fun to watch them eat lettuce from the patio. You can walk out the gate from the patio and enjoy the views from the Atlantic side!
A surprising hidden gem! Don't be put off by the fact it isn't very visible until you walk through a deserted courtyard. The food was outstanding!! One of the best burgers I've ever had. Their version of the Big Mac was tender, juicy, and the toppings finger licking good. My favorite was the avocado toast, so good went back a second time. I had to come back to the States and try to dissect and recreate it. When I say it's good, it's insanely good! Also enjoyed the lettuce tacos. I would give it 6 stars! Don't miss out.
5 Stars - Best Burgers on the Planet! Aurora has hands down the best burgers I’ve ever tasted! The homemade buns are next level — soft, fresh, and perfectly toasted. Every bite melts in your mouth. On top of that, the owners are incredible people who make you feel right at home the second you walk in. You can tell they put their heart and soul into this place. If you’re a burger lover, this is a MUST visit. Can’t recommend Aurora enough! Ps: super fast service
Simply the best hamburger I've ever eaten. The side of smashed potatoes with a limey crema was a great accompaniment to the burger. Had my first one when the restaurant was adjacent to Madera's. We've returned there and to the current location (Aurora) many times. We've never been disappointed.
The chef is amazing! Being from the midwest my wife had to try the juicy Lucy and loved it, I had the pork belly poke bowl which was also outstanding! Whether you are staying on the island or just making a day trip from Cancun it is worth going to this place. Locally owned and not in the middle of tourist places. Everything was amazing! This place in neatly tucked on the Caribbean side of the island and just about mid-island. The patio is calm and lovely. We could see the ocean from our table. The drinks are the best I have had on the island!!! The hibiscus margarita is a must!! (I worked as a bar tender so I feel that I have extra perspectives in saying this.) We ordered a bowl of the fish stew to share and it was like eating food from grandma’s house. It was delicious, full of flavor, made with fresh ingredients, and felt like a big hug with every bite. I can’t recommend this place enough!!!
Our favorite lunch place in the world. The rice bowls are a cannot miss and so delicious. The burger is also fantastic. Top notch drinks and a walk out view to the Cliff and the eastern side of Isla Mujeres. Highly recommend!
The best food on the island hands down. If I could eat here every night I would. I loved going to Madera years ago- and was so happy to give Aurora a try. Their rice bowls are classic and so so delicious. Fresh food, lovely drinks, and even amazing dessert (the flan is to die for). Great portions, prices, and people!
